Horseshoe Cottage is a get away for you and up to 5 other folks. The wildlife is very abundant in this location. Enjoy being a close driving distance to Canaan Valley & Blackwater Falls State Parks. Canaan Valley is home to 2 downhill ski resorts, snowboarding, a tube park and a great golf course. White Grass Cross Country Skiing is also located in the Valley which is a short drive away ( approx. 18 miles) Blackwater Falls has an awesome new sled run which is fast becoming a family favorite and they are often spoke of as the most photographed waterfalls in WV. Plan to visit our windmills and The Fairfax Stone, the birthplace of the Potomac River and where George Washington surveyed from. Our mountain playground is the Monongahela National Forest which is close by. Also take advantage of Horseshoe Recreational Park (our next door neighbor) which provides hiking trails, fishing, swimming and picnic opportunities 2 miles from the cottage. If you are a golfer, Holly Meadows Golf course is about a 15 minute drive away. Blackwater Outdoor Adventures offer rafting opportunies and are located about 4 miles from the cottage. A short drive will also take you to Deep Creek Lake, which is Maryland's best kept secret. Up to 6 people can fill this cottage with laughter and relaxation while you take in nature. Our outdoor pavillion and charcoal grill is available to bring out the best "Chef" in you. Local shopping at Family Dollar, Dollar General, Rite Aid and Shop N Save grocery chain is nearby in Parsons. 4 private owned eating establishments as well as Subway & McDonalds. are approximately 10 miles away.
